National Program Overview (U15-U18)

The Girls National Program is to be considered by athletes who are either looking to train and compete nationally at the highest level and aspire to play in college or for advanced players focused on excelling in their middle school/high school programs. Tournament schedules will be formed based on the individual team/age group to ensure the best possible competitive scenario and exposure. Teams are trained by our most experienced coaches.

All players accepting spots on Club teams will be required to compete in USAV National Championships (if qualified), AAU National Championships, or ASICS National Championships at the end of the season.

Our Mission #

Our Mission is to empower and grow confidence in young athletes through the sport of volleyball. We are committed to fostering a culture of competitiveness, integrity, and unity so that our athletes will thrive on and off of the court. We encourage our athletes to be fearless and limitless in their pursuit of themselves into greatness, all while providing them with the tools and support they need in an elite club atmosphere to achieve their goals, whether it be collegiate, scholastic or just the basic fundamental growth in the sport that we love.

ROSTERS & PLAYER DEVELOPMENT PHILOSOPHY #

We believe in a unique and innovative approach to building rosters for our Girls’ Travel Program.
Rosters will include up to:

  • 2 Setters
  • 1-2 Liberos *will not exceed 2
  • 4 Pin Players (Outsides & Opposites)
  • 2-3 Middle Blockers

So what makes this unique?  In the U14-U18* age groups we will employ the following philosophy:

  • Setters will typically run 5-1 or International 6-2 offenses; Not concerned about height … just the ability to run an offense at a high level.
  • Liberos will generally play the Libero position; Occasionally we will use them as defensive specialists; Will be trained at all back row positions. Major factor in recruiting for these players
  • Pin players will be developed in practice to play 6 rotations; Imperative to giving these players recruiting opportunities
  • Middles will have the opportunity to develop a variety of different attacks, both in-front & behind the setter.

*U12 and U13 will use a similar approach to rosters, but may employ 6-2 offenses and players will learn to play every position, as these age groups are still considered developmental. If we have an Open level team at any age, we reserve the right to employ the U14–U18 philosophy. Additionally, there are circumstances where we may deviate due to roster (i.e. 3 Middle Offensive System) but players will be informed of this on a case by case basis.

Why do this?  Simple.  This allows us to accomplish true player development that is in the best interests of each of our athletes.  Many clubs promise it, but cannot deliver because they put too many athletes on a roster at positions that create specialization and 3 rotation players.  Our goal is to give every athlete in the Travel Program the best opportunity to reach their goal of playing collegiate volleyball.  This philosophy delivers on that objective.

PROGRAM FEATURES #

Experienced, Professionally Trained Coaching Staff #

Each of our Head Coaches in the Travel Program will have a minimum of 2 years of club, college or high school coaching experience and will be a minimum of 21 years old.  Most have MUCH more than that.  In addition, our coaches will undergo background screenings, basic First Aid training, and Positive Coaching Alliance certification.  On the court, our coaches will participate in LOVB’s internal development program including mindset training. This will be led by National Directors Jenny McDowell and Courtney Thompson.  Jenny is a 2-time NCAA National Champion and Courtney is 2-time Olympic Medalist.

2-3 Practices/Week #

1 Flex (13U-18U Only – Mondays) and 2 Team practices/week (Tuesdays & Thursdays) will be held throughout the season.  Flex practices are run by Head Coaches and will be designed to allow the head coach the opportunity to focus on areas of need based on the team’s performance at tournaments.  More information below.

Team Practices are run and designed by the Technical Director.  Our Technical Director will “run the gym or their specific team group” and ensure that every player and team is following our Specific Program curriculum.

PlayMetrics App “One Stop Shop!” #

All the information player families need can be found in the PlayMetrics app: calendars, messages, payment notifications, field directions, forms, team contacts, and more. Automated alerts ensure you’ll never miss time-sensitive updates. Our user-friendly communication features include email, text messages, one-on-one messaging, and live game chats.

FLEX Practice #

Flex practices are run by Head Coaches and will be designed to allow the head coach the opportunity to focus on areas of need based on the team’s performance at tournaments.  Each coach will have the opportunity to work with their team or groups of players on areas of need, perform team building, watch game film using their Flex practice on Monday nights. Flex practices can range anywhere from 30 minutes to the full 2 hour window based on coach discretion.

Position Training on ALL “Team” Practice Nights #

Position Training will be incorporated into all Team Practices as part of the practice plan.  Players will spend significant time in each practice working at their positions both technically (fundamentals) and tactically (small groups with teammates).  **11U-14U players will train in ALL positions.

Recruiting Coordinators (U15-U18) #

Chi City Volleyball is proud to offer one of the most comprehensive college recruiting support programs in the country.  We will employ a National Recruiting Director that will be responsible for maintaining a current database of college needs, college contact information and developing the tools and resources that our athletes will use during the recruiting process.  In addition, our on-site Recruiting Coordinators will work directly with our athletes and their families by conducting PSA (Prospective Student Athlete) consultations throughout the season. Lastly, to provide the best technology to our club recruiting coordinators and student-athletes, LOVB is partnering with Sports Recruits (SR).  SR is able to provide not only collegiate research tools for each student athlete, but also a dashboard for our recruiting coordinators to hold each athlete accountable in the journey that will lead to success in finding them a perfect college home.

We’re excited to be using SportsRecruits (recruiting toolbox) and VidSwap (video and statistical software). SportsRecruits is a comprehensive recruiting toolbox that combines a recruiting profile, college search, and messaging platform to assist our athletes in their recruiting process. The Vidswap platform breaks down match video throughout the season (by player and skill) and allows our athletes to easily produce highlight reels throughout the year.

Tournament Schedule #

Based on the individual team, the actual tournament will change to ensure the best possible competitive scenario and exposure.  We will be offering a high exposure tournament schedule that will not only offer the HIGHEST level of competition, but also the opportunity to be seen by college coaches (specific to the U15-U18 age divisions).

Below is a TENTATIVE schedule of MAJOR events. Events will be determined based on age, competitive scenario and exposure.  All events should be considered tentative until the schedule is confirmed once tryouts are completed and announced as final in October. It is possible that these dates may change. All events should be considered tentative until entries are submitted, and teams have been accepted. The finalized schedule will be determined as soon as possible based on team level, tournament strength and driving distance.
